Biography
Originally from Wichita, KS, Jamie holds a Bachelors from the University of Kansas and a Masters from the University of Texas at Austin. Before moving to heavenly Hawai‘i in January 2019 to play acting 3rd/associate principal horn with the Hawaii Symphony she was residing in upstate New York playing with the Orchestra NOW and performing all around New York City. A firm believer in the vital importance of music education Jamie is a member of Trade Winds Ensemble, a group of professional musicians that united in 2013 in response to the social injustices around the world and their shared belief in the power of music. They have held residencies in Kenya, Tanzania, Chicago, Haiti, and Detroit. Prior to her time in New York she lived in Texas and had a horn studio that ranged anywhere between 20-60 students for 5 years.
Jamie has performed with several summer festival orchestras including Aspen, Orchestra of the Americas, Colorado College, Sarasota, and Roundtop. While working on her undergraduate degree she served as assistant/utility horn in the Topeka Symphony. Her primary teachers include Paul Stevens, Patrick Hughes, William VerMeulen, and Julia Pilant. On her days off Jamie enjoys driving around the island trying new foods and absorbing the beautiful sights. She is also the newest member of the Spring Winds Quintet, one of the three groups that make up the non-profit Chamber Music Hawaii.

This directory is service provided to teaching members of the Hawaii Music Teachers Association and to the Hawaii community. While HMTA will do its best to connect Hawaii flute students with local flute teachers, the responsibility for fulfillment and content of flute lessons, as well as safety, rests solely with the individual teachers. If you are a flute teacher in Hawaii and would like to be listed in this directory, please consider becoming a member.
