Treasurer

One Position Available / Three-Year Term

Eligibility:

  • All officers shall be active members of HMTA and MTNA in good standing.

  • Nominees must join or already be members of both organizations in order to accept any nomination and serve.

Description of Duties:

  • Oversees the financial affairs of the Association, acting as custodian of all financial records and funds.

  • Presents financial reports to the President and the Board of Directors at board meetings and the annual meeting.

  • Maintains an overview of the fiscal workings and stability of the Association in order to guide the Board of Directors.

  • Fulfills other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors, the President and the governing documents of the Association.

Prerequisites and Personal Qualities:

  • Belief in the mission of HMTA.

  • Organization and online bookkeeping skills (organization of data and budgets)

  • Accounting and tax preparation skills for non-profit organizations

  • Legal skills preferable

  • Time Management

  • Ability to work with others and advise the Board based on their understanding of budget and financial needs and abilities.


Director

Two to Four Positions Available / Various Term Lengths (1-3 Years)

Eligibility:

  • All directors shall be active music educators, either privately or through an educational institution.

  • All directors shall be active members of HMTA and MTNA in good standing.

  • Nominees must join or already be members of both organizations in order to accept any nomination and serve.

Description of Duties:

  • Perform duties as requested by the President and the Board.

  • Participate in all meetings and vote on decisions and actions of the organization.

  • Work in committees within the Board, such as media, competitions, programs, etc.

Prerequisites and Personal Qualities:

  • Belief in the mission of HMTA

  • Organizational Skills

  • Time Management

  • Ability to work respectfully with others on the Board, as well as the musical community and other organizations.

  • Good communication skills

  • Marketing skills such as website creation and editing, experience in creating press releases, sending emails and newsletters to members (optional)

  • Grant-writing skills (optional)
